I did not retire from doing
art. I retired from owning and running
an Art Gallery. I am now free to travel
and do my art on a more “layed-back” manor. This makes me…

TWO LIFE-SIZE BUSTS IN MARBLE
THOMAS JEFFERSON & MARK TWAIN

Oct 2, 2012 - Day one – cut the small blocks
one will
become Thomas Jefferson and one will become Mark Twain
Day two – drew Tom & Mark on the blocks… and began cutting…
Day three – a previous bust I sculpted of Roy Rogers, is anxious
to see Tom & Mark…!!!
Day four – Tom is taking good shape… and maybe Mark will catch up
tomorrow…
Day five – Mark did play catch up today… figured he would… but
now I want you all to understand that these boyz are
only roughed-in. they
are far from finished. in fact they are only half done. all their features
are too fat. this
is how a roughed-in marble sculpture always is… way too fat…!!! now is time for
detail, sanding and finish work.
Day six – Mark called me again today. I gave him an eye for an eye…

and diamond bit in hand = Mark is happening…!!!
…and by today’s end… Mark getting some personality.
I always figured Mark Twain combed his hair with his fingers…
today I combed his hair with a 5” diamond grinder.
only did a half
day today…
my work time
is getting unorganized… nuther half-day… I spose... this is about day 7.
Mark looks to me here… like he’s “cogitating…”
Tom’s start’n to clean-up a bit now…
and Mark tie isn’t fixed yet…
