Douglas Scott Murphy, age 75, passed away peacefully at home in White Rock, New Mexico on April 23, 2026 after listening one more time to all the hymns that he had recorded. Doug was born in Hillsboro, Oregon on March 26, 1951.

 

Doug grew up in Oregon, where he developed a love for the outdoors and in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he established his love for the Southwest. Doug graduated from Manzano High School in 1969 and attended the University of New Mexico.

 

Doug appreciated Everett Blair and Ralph MacDonald who brought the gospel to his family in Oregon. Doug spent a few years in the same ministry in New Mexico and Texas.

 

Doug became an artist, author, musician, founder, sculptor, and avid outdoorsman. His numerous sculptures, paintings, songs, hymns, poems, and books will remind us of his passions inspired by God. Doug loved his Creator and all His marvelous creation.

 

Doug said, “I rejoice because my mother encouraged me to read my Bible and to learn to love God’s divine oracles. Amazing blessings flood from the windows of heaven as we know Jesus as our friend and Savior.”

 

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and younger twin brothers.

 

Doug is survived by his wife; sister & brother-in-law; brother & sister-in-law; 5 children and their families; 5 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
