October 18, 2005 – The miniature bronzes of “The Original Texans” are available for purchase.

November 21, 2005 – A million pound capacity crane was used to load the largest block of marble ever quarried in New Mexico!  This block weighs 72,000 pounds.

April 4, 2006 – The first cut is being made on the monumental marble block, while more bronze buffalos are being poured.  Notice the red hot crucible.  It is full of molten bronze.

April 5, 2006 – This morning the first block of marble is removed from the sculpture.  This removed block is a substantial piece of the history of "The Original Texans" sculpture …  special.  Perhaps someone would value a special sculpture created from this special block of marble.

April 14, 2006 – Starting to see a buffalo.

April 20, 2006 – Doug and his long drill are rolling big doney boulders off of "Russell".  The name of the sculpture is "The Original Texans" … but "Russell" is Doug's affectionate pet - name for the sculpture.  This is in honor of  Dr. Russell  Long.

May 4, 2006 – One horn is carved…

The sledgehammer pounds away at Russell's "afro"
